Health personnel

EXO trained all health personnel who will soon be wintering during 2024 in the bases that the Argentine Republic has in the Antarctic continent.

The training focused on the use of the Mobile Diagnostic Centers that EXO previously donated for the ARA Almirante Irizar and the ARA Libertad Frigate. These diagnostic centers consist of a notebook integrated and adapted by software and electronics to perform electrocardiogram, respiration, oximetry (SpO2), measure heart rate, non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP), and surface temperature.

One of the peculiarities of the equipment is that the CDM is designed so that medical studies can be performed in case of need, recorded and transferred (via Wi-Fi, 3G-4G and satellite) to a specialist remotely in real time. The system allows data storage for later analysis or study and also offers the possibility of videoconferencing.

Fernando González, EXO's Institutional Relations and International Business Manager, commented: "The CDMs installed in the ARA Libertad Frigate, in the ARA Almirante Irízar icebreaker and in the Argentine Antarctic bases are allowing remote medical diagnoses and preventing unsolvable health problems when one is isolated. This new group of professionals will be able to use these telemedicine solutions and thus take care of the health of all Argentines who winter in the Antarctic bases and take care of our sovereignty in that continent."
